Second Saturday Slavnost (Celebration)!
June 10, 2017 10am-6pm on the square in downtown Caldwell.
 
Enjoy music, sales, activities, fellowship and more.
 
FREE admission!

We are inviting folks to come back to the Square on Saturday. The June Slavnost is themed “Show Off Your Business” with each business hosting a mini event. The following businesses are participating: Funky Junky will host a “Beach Party” with beach themed family games, food and drinks; The Mad Hatter's Tea Room will host a Heritage Hullabaloo with live Czech music and Czech menu selections along with an early summer sale; The humble life will host a DIY Spa Day; Lissa's Restyled Sip & Shop will host a birthday Slavnost with live music; M & G Western Wear will host cowboy games for the kids; The Amherst House will host a luau; The Old Post Office will have live music from Julia Hatfield, drink specials, food and pop-up shops; Engraving & More will be having a big sale, plus drawings for free Caldwell Hornet merchandise, BN Love Creations, Papa Johnny's Signs, Woodson Lumber Company & The Garden Spot Cafe' will all be participating and we are adding activities as the event gets closer.
 
Each month the Second Saturday Slavnost will feature a different theme. Don’t forget the Farmers Market every Saturday morning.

Caldwell, the county seat of Burleson County, is at the intersection of State highways 21 and 36, in the center of the county. In 1840, when the Texas Congress annexed to Milam County all of Washington County north of Yegua Creek and west of the Brazos River, Caldwell was designated as the county seat of a new county to be formed.  The proposed town, surveyed by George B. Erath and named for Mathew Caldwell, was laid out parallel to the Old San Antonio Road and west of Davidson Creek; the site encompassed a settlement founded by Lewis L. Chiles. 

Caldwell was designated a Main Street City by the Texas Historical Commission in January of 2014.  The city received the honor of being named a Nationally Accredited Main Street Program for its performance and improvement in 2015.
