The City of Caldwell is dedicated to ensuring the safest possible road and drainage infrastructure for community members and those passing through by ensuring that these systems are kept well maintained and up to the highest possible standards. The Public Works department is responsible for maintaining all City-owned streets and alleys, drainage ditches and storm sewer inlets, and street signage and lighting.
Caldwell Transportation Map
Know before you go! The City of Caldwell Transportation Map is a GIS map application that provides specific, detailed information about current and upcoming road closures in the City. The map is a great tool to learn about local transportation conditions so you can avoid traffic congestion and reach your destination safer and sooner.
DO NOT use this map application while operating a vehicle. The City of Caldwell Transportation Map is not a navigational tool for real-time navigation purposes and may not include every incident/emergency that occurs on city streets.

What is included on the Transportation Map?
The map application contains the following layers:
- Road Closures: a layer updated by City of Caldwell Staff containing information on road closures initiated by the City and detour information. Closures from other entities are not included on this layer.
- TxDOT Projects: a layer from TxDOT containing information on current and planned TxDOT projects. This layer will update automatically as TxDOT updates their information.
- TxDOT AADT Annuals: This layer contains Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) data from TxDOT counters on highways in the City of Caldwell. Data shown reflects the most recent data available.
- World Traffic Service: a data layer from Esri that utilizes GPS data and algorithms to show traffic conditions on City streets. See here for further information on this layer.
- Railroad: Locations of railroads in the City of Caldwell.
- Existing Sidewalks: Locations of existing sidewalks in the City of Caldwell.
- Proposed Bicycle Route: Proposed bicycle route locations from the Envision Caldwell Comprehensive Plan.
How to Use the Transportation Map
Click here to access the City of Caldwell Transportation Map. Below are some of the main functions and features available in the map application.
- Use the search bar to locate a specific address on the map.
- Click the “Legend” button to toggle the legend on or off, which provides a description of the map symbols and automatically updates based on the layers that are currently displayed.
- Click the “Layer List” button to view the layers that are available on the map application. Check layers on or off in the box the appears when the button is clicked.
- Click the “Basemap Gallery” button to view available basemaps, including satellite imagery.
- Click the “Measurement” button to open a box that allows measurement of area by drawing a polygon, measurement of distance by drawing a line, or identification of the GPS coordinates of a specific point. Click the function desired in the box and then begin clicking on the map to draw the polygon, line, or point.
- Click the “My Location” button to zoom the map to your current location. Location services must be allowed on your browser/computer for this button to work.
- Click the “Home” button to return to the map’s default view.
- Click the “Plus” or “Minus” buttons to zoom in or out. Zooming may also be done by scrolling a mouse wheel or using two fingers to zoom on a trackpad.
- The bottom left corner contains informational displays of the map scale and the coordinates of the current location of the cursor.
