AEL & Digital Literacy Programs
Program Overview
The Harrie P. Woodson Memorial Library offers several programs to help adults meet their basic adult education needs at no cost. In-person classes are very small. Tutoring is one-on-one.
Mission Statement
Mission Statement
The Harrie P. Woodson Memorial Library's Adult Basic Education program strives to embolden adults to take the first step of improving themselves and their lives by enrolling in a class; encourage them on their path to improve their literacy skills; enrich their lives as we offer instruction; and with these new skills, empower them to engage with their community.
GED and ESL: We partner with Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley and Texas Educational Region VI Adult Education to bring instruction to Caldwell.
Adult Literacy: We offer one-on-one tutoring, provided by volunteers, to teach adult basic literacy.
Digital Literacy for GED and ESL: We offer on-demand, weekly classes to teach fundamental computer skills, how to access and use Zoom, how to use the group message app, Remind, and how to submit the necessary digital forms in order to enroll in GED and ESL classes offered by Region VI.
Digital Literacy for Seniors: We offer monthly classes to teach the rudiments of using the computer. These classes are open to everyone, even those who have never touched a computer. (These are designed for seniors but we welcome adult students of any age.)
