Our Responsibilities
The City of Caldwell is a General Law – Type A City operating under a council-manager form of government. The powers of the city are vested in a five (5) member elected council that enacts local legislation, determines city policies and appoints the City Administrator.
The Office of City Administrator shall be appointive and serve at the pleasure of the City Council. The City Administrator shall perform all of the statutory duties prescribed by law and such other duties as may be prescribed by the City Council. The City Administrator shall be chosen solely upon the basis of administrative ability.
The City Administrator’s Office oversees the day-to-day operation of the City and all services and policy implementation. The City Administrator is the Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Administrative Branch of the city government. Caldwell’s City Administrator, Camden White, is responsible to the Council for administration of all city affairs. The City Manager prepares recommendations and implements the policy direction approved by the Mayor and City Council.
